The lady in Hamburg (“Frúin í Hamborg“) is a word game for two. When me and my family went to visit my grandmother in the countryside, which was a long drive away, the game helped us kill time. The one who starts asks: “What did you buy with the money the lady in Hamburg gave you yesterday? You must not say black, white, yes or no.“ The other player invents something that they pretend to have bought. The players then chat about it and the questioner tries to get the other one to say the forbidden words in order to win the game. I miss this game – hopefully it will not be lost
